ADDITIONAL NOTES OF INTEREST:
For
about fifteen years, the Fall River Mills House was a vacation getaway
from Santa Rosa, California for my wife, son, and I. Since we worked long hours
and had a school schedule the house was only used by the three of us for
several days at a time and only for about three times a year. The time spent
there was magical. A local caretaker would visit the house once a month to
check on it, and to keep it cleaned and maintained. Our wonderful neighbors
always helped, and there was never any crime or nuisances to ever worry about
(still isnÕt). We were so fortunate. The house is like brand new. We made sure
all maintenance was performed immediately. Everything has been meticulously
maintained. The high desert climate keeps internal spaces dry all the time.
We
planned for retirement. To supplement our future income we obtained a lodging
and business license for the property. This license was and still is very
difficult to obtain, but the hard work has been done. We were very lucky.
When
we moved there full time it was wonderful. We made friends with many local people; we met great people traveling
who stayed with us during community events, helping with finances. We had our
boat; ATVs; an old 1947 truck. We fished and hiked and explored. We volunteered
and helped where we could. We did it all. We had a motor home outside for
weekend trips. We commuted to Santa Rosa to help our son with his business.
Fall
River Mills House is now for sale.
During
the years traveling back and forth to St Joseph, Missouri to take care of
parents, my old injuries and health issues started affecting my mobility, so we
are selling to downsize. We have another small place in Fall River Mills that
will suit our years better now and our decision is to free up this wonderful
property to continue to be all it can be for the right persons with timely
circumstances. The property and house are jewels, as is time.
